The 501 jean

Levi’s 501 jeans provide a classic and timeless look. The denim is made to last and wear better with every wash.

Levi’s 501: No Stretch vs. Low Stretch

Levi’s 501: no stretch
This is the identifiable Levi’s look and is my personal favorite. Made with 100% cotton, these are a classic staple jean. This style provides a lasting shape and is made of a thicker material, (compared to the low-stretch style). I find these will stretch out as I wear them throughout the day.

To spot the difference: you’ll find a tag sewn into the inner right side: “Quality Clothing Levi’s Premium.” Also, the outside leather brown label usually states the phrase “Genuine Quality Clothing”.

Levi‘s 501: low-stretch
Levi’s 501 low-stretch has increased in popularity. The low-stretch is made of cotton and elastane, making these jeans a bit stretchier and more comfortable.

To spot them in-store: look on the brown leather patch, which should state “Quality Clothing” or look at the materials tag to see if it is made with anything other than cotton.

Sizing

Waist
No stretch: I get my usual waist size.
Low-stretch: I like to size up because I’ve found these to shrink more with time.

Length
I like to buy a bit longer and hem them after a few washes if needed.
